program is back and underway for 2020. Last year was even more successful than the
previous years with nearly 200 properties nominated. We are looking forward to even
more beautiful lawns and landscaping for 2020!
The Neighborhood Recognition Awards are intended to thank those residents
and business owners who take pride in their properties and care about the look of their
neighborhood. Residents, Neighborhood Groups, and City of Saginaw employees can
nominate local homes and businesses for exceptional yardwork and landscaping
improvements. One award from each Neighborhood Quadrant will be selected for
June, July, and August. Monthly winners will be notified by the City of Saginaw
S.C.E.N.I.C. Division. Monthly winners will receive a recognition certificate and a yard
sign to display in their yard. One grand prize winner will be chosen from the monthly
winners and announced at the October Neighborhood Association Action Group
“The contest is a way to recognize those properties that are well-maintained and a bright spot in their neighborhoods. When S.C.E.N.I.C. is out dealing with neglected properties, it’s nice to see the neighboring properties that stand out in a positive way. We want to say ‘thank you’ to those residents that are really going above and beyond to take care of their yard. We want these citizens to know that their efforts are not going unnoticed. It not only builds pride in your neighborhood, but unity between neighbors. It means so much when one neighbor recognizes another for their hard work and efforts.” Scott Nizinski, S.C.E.N.I.C. Code Enforcement Inspector. “The feedback we have received over the past 2 years shows that our citizens want to accentuate good things in their neighborhoods. This program recognizes exceptional work and acknowledges those residents that help make Saginaw beautiful.”
