City of Saginaw, Michigan

August 10, 2023 Saginaw, MI – The City of Saginaw would like to invite residents, neighborhood groups, local businesses and organizations to sign up now to join us as we host our Fall 2023 Team Up to Clean Up event on Saturday, September 9 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
The Inspections Division and members of City Council are hosting the Fall 2023 Team Up to Clean Up event scheduled for Saturday, September 9. The citywide event is an effort to clean up litter and debris in various locations throughout the city. Team Up to Clean Up is a community wide day of service where residents, neighborhood groups, and local community organizations can come together to help beautify the city. Volunteers will be provided with trash bags and protective latex gloves. Individuals/Organizations can sign up to volunteer at
The event will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 9. All volunteers will meet in front of City Hall for the kickoff. Volunteers will then break up into groups and head out to selected areas of the city to begin the clean up. Volunteers will return to City Hall between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. for the wrap-up and lunch.
Mayor Brenda F. Moore, who helped plan and organize the event, stressed the importance of this new initiative scheduled for the fall, “Our spring clean up events have been very successful, building unity and pride in our neighborhoods and making a positive impact throughout our city. We want to keep that momentum going throughout the year. Let’s all do our part. Imagine what our city will become if we dedicate two or three Saturdays a year as our Team Up to Clean Up Saturdays. I know our citizens and how much they love this city, and I know we can do it. I invite everyone to join me on Saturday, September 9 at 8 a.m. It’s just a few hours, but it will make a big difference in our community.”
Old couches, TVs, mattresses, or construction debris left in vacant lots or in the street negatively affect the quality of life for our residents and it is illegal. The city reminds residents that we are continuing our use of security cameras to monitor littering and dumping violations in the city. State Law classifies improper disposal of garbage as a misdemeanor with fines up to $500 and/or 90 days incarceration. To report illegal dumping, residents can contact the Code Enforcement Division at (989) 759-1697.
City Residents who wish to dispose of large, bulky materials are encouraged to utilize our monthly Waste Convenience Station located at 1435 S. Washington Avenue on the second Saturday of each month from 8:00am to 12:00pm. Items that can be dropped off include recyclables, building materials, furniture, trash, and other miscellaneous items. The Convenience Station will be open this Saturday, August 12 from 8:00am to 12:00pm. Click here to view Convenience Station guidelines.
There are various ways residents and organizations can get involved, including getting out in the community to help clean it up and properly disposing of unwanted items around their homes. We encourage everyone to join us at City Hall on September 9 as we “Team Up to Clean Up” and we thank you in advance for your help!
