December 20, 2022 SAGINAW, MI –Saginaw City Council has appointed Bill Ostash as the new City Council Member to replace former Council Member Autumn Scherzer.

Bill Ostash was one of six applicants who were interviewed at the December 19, 2022 Committee of the Whole Meeting. Mr. Ostash was then appointed and sworn in at the Special Meeting held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. “It is an honor and a privilege to be selected for the council position,” said Ostash, who previously served on City Council from 2018 to November 2022. Bill’s term on City Council will expire in November 2024.

Mr. Ostash has been employed at Dow Credit Union since 1999 as a Programmer and Team Leader in the Information Technology Department. Bill is active in the redevelopment of Saginaw, serving as a member of the Planning Commission and previously on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Bill has also been very active in the preservation of Saginaw’s history, serving as a member on the Historic District Commission from 2006 to 2018 where he served as Chair for 6 years. While on the Historic  District,  he  was  instrumental  in  revising  the  Bylaws  and  Preservation Guidelines, which is a requirement of the State Historic Preservation Office. Bill is also a member of Great Lakes Bay Pride and the Saginaw County Animal Advisory Council.
