CITY OF SAGINAW CONVENIENCE STATION REOPENS JUNE 13

June 10, 2020 SAGINAW, MI – The City of Saginaw Convenience Station, located behind the Public Works building at 1435 S. Washington Avenue will reopen this Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm for City of Saginaw residents. For the safety of our employees and citizens, all residents are asked to wear a mask when visiting the convenience station and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

The City of Saginaw is pleased to reopen the convenience station for City of Saginaw residents. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the convenience station was closed in April and May. This Saturday, City of Saginaw residents may drop off recyclables, building materials, furniture, trash and other miscellaneous items at our convenience station drop off site. Staff will not accept roofing shingles. Residents must show a valid Michigan driver's license or identification as proof of residency.

In addition to the requirement to wear masks, customers utilizing the convenience station are encouraged to have materials pre-sorted in the trunk of their vehicle or truck bed to allow staff to easily access and remove materials. Staff will not remove materials from back seats.

Phil Karwat, Director of Public Works, commented on the enhanced guidelines, “We are pleased to reopen this station once again for our residents. However, these rules have been put in place to minimize direct contact between employees and customers at the convenience station. We ask everyone to take a few extra minutes to prepare their materials and follow these guidelines.”
