City of Saginaw, Michigan

August 31, 2022 SAGINAW, MI – On March 28, 2022, two Saginaw Police Officers responded and provided assistance to a traffic stop investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police. A MSP trooper had been immediately suspended due to his actions during that stop. The Michigan Attorney General’s Office has decided to charge the two Saginaw Police Officers who were on scene with misdemeanor willful neglect of duty.

The City of Saginaw does not tolerate unprofessional or improper conduct on the part of its officers. The Saginaw Police Department conducted an internal investigation following the traffic stop and found that there were no violations of policy or procedure by its two officers. The officers will remain on active duty at present. The Saginaw Police Chief, Command Staff, and City administration will continue to review new information as it is brought forward. The City of
Saginaw cannot otherwise comment on open criminal or civil cases involving any of its employees.
