June 23, 2022 SAGINAW, MI –The City of Saginaw would like to remind residents that collection efforts and water service shut-offs for delinquent City of Saginaw utility accounts will resume beginning Monday, July 18, 2022.

Any account shown as delinquent with no recent payment activity or approved payment arrangement will be in jeopardy of disconnection beginning Monday, July 18. Customers who are behind on their payments can contact a Fiscal Services staff member to make payment arrangements and/or seek assistance with payments from 211 Northeast Michigan, MSHDA Michigan Homeowner Assistance Fund, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services or Saginaw County Community Action Committee.

Prior to resuming shutoffs for non-payment, Fiscal Services staff will continue their efforts to contact all Water/Sewer customers who are in danger of disconnection. “We want to make sure our citizens are aware of the July 18 date for water shutoffs and give them time to make payment arrangements or apply for the available financial assistance,” said Tim Morales,
City Manager. “

Customers with past due balances will receive a red card notice instructing them to
contact Water Billing customer service at 989-759-1450 to pay off their past due balance or make payment arrangements by the July 18, 2022 deadline in order to avoid water service shut off or collections.

The city is also encouraging utility customers that are struggling to pay their bills to seek financial assistance by contacting one of the following:
Lori Brown, Finance Director, commented on the available assistance and payment plan options, “We know some customers continue to struggle financially, so financial assistance programs and payment plans are available to help our customers get back on track. We encourage customers to contact us as soon as possible to discuss these options."
