City of Saginaw, Michigan

Saginaw’s Splash Park, located in the Frank N. Andersen
Celebration Park, 1830 Fordney Street, is ready to kick off the 2022 Summer Season. The Splash Park will open on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Due to limited staffing, the bathrooms and changing areas will be closed to the public.

The city is still seeking to hire 5 Celebration Park Coordinators to work in the park
throughout the summer season. The purpose of this Park Coordinator position is to monitor the City’s Celebration Square Splash Park daily to ensure the safety of our residents and upkeep of the facility. The temporary position will report directly to the Labor Foreman of the Facilities Division and work approximately 20 to 28 hours a week.

“This is a great opportunity for a local student or adult to gain experience working part-time for the city, and they get to spend a good portion of their summer outdoors at Celebration Park.“ --Jay Gustin, Parks and Facilities Administrator.

Saginaw’s Splash Park will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the summer season. Residents who visit the park can enjoy a fun, FREE recreational experience in a safe and accessible environment for people of all ages and abilities. The 2022 summer season will feature favorite amenities, such as exciting boulder climbing structures of various sizes within the existing playscape area. Celebration Park also includes sidewalks and paths for those who love to walk,
with many added benches in scenic locations along the way. A pavilion area is available for picnics or those special summer celebrations. The public restrooms and changing areas will remain closed until Park Coordinators are hired and available to monitor the Splash Park. Portable toilets will be available for the public to use during this time.

“We understand that many families look forward to this free outdoor activity every summer. We are excited to reopen once again in 2022 and provide this fun recreational experience for our citizens. We did not want to delay the opening, so we had to make a few adjustments to our operations. Once we have additional park coordinators hired, we will open all the areas of the facility for the public to use.” – Phil Karwat, Director of Public Services.
