August 4, 2021 SAGINAW, MI –The City of Saginaw will hold a press conference on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at 11:00 am in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 1315 S. Washington Avenue. The purpose of the press conference is to address the recent incidences of violent crime and homicide in the city. Mayor Brenda F. Moore will provide an update on the actions taken by the city to address the violence. Representatives from local law enforcement and various community leaders will also speak at Thursday’s press conference.

“Now is the time we must come together as a community to address this crime and violence. Too many lives have been lost, and we must work together to find ways to combat this evil. Thursday’s press conference will provide further information on some of the initial steps we are taking to end this violence.” – Mayor Brenda F. Moore.

Bishop Larry Camel, Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and Co-Chair of the ALPACT Committee, will also speak at Thursday’s press conference. “African American pastors and other leaders in the faith community must join forces to
address the conflict of crime and violence in the Saginaw community.” said Bishop Camel. “Our goal is to speak to the parents, grandparents, and other church members that can reach out to those individuals who are at the center of this violence. We need to bring peace to the Saginaw community.”
