City of Saginaw, Michigan

September 29, 2020 Saginaw, MI -- The Saginaw Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) will host a series of virtual Business Plan Writing Workshops beginning Wednesday, October 7 from 11am to 1pm. The virtual workshop series will continue every Wednesday throughout the month of October from 11am to 1 pm.

This year’s workshops are free to the public and will encourage small business owners
and entrepreneurs to “invest in your success” and think creatively about a business
development plan. The 2020 Business Plan Writing Workshops will feature guest speaker,
Michelle McGregor, President/CEO of First Ward Community Center. The workshops will be conducted via Webex and sponsored by SEDC and CRA Bankers Forum.

The series of virtual workshops will help to develop a business plan from the ground up.
Each week, new information will be introduced. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive assistance with the various sections of a traditional business plan. Kisha Smith, SEDC Coordinator, commented on the value of a solid business plan, “A good business plan guides you through each stage of starting and managing your business. You’ll use your business plan as a roadmap for how to structure, run, and grow your new business. Investors want to feel confident they’ll see a return on their investment. Your business plan is the tool you’ll use to convince people that working with you — or investing in your small business — is a smart choice. That’s why these free virtual workshops are so valuable for aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners.”

The virtual 2020 Business Plan Writing Workshops are an excellent business
development opportunity for anyone who has a dream of owning their own business. “Starting your own business may seem overwhelming and out of reach for many, but there are several helpful resources available through the Saginaw Economic Development Corporation. Our goal for this series is to help prepare local entrepreneurs for success.” –Kanah Franklin, Deputy Director of Community Services.

The City of Saginaw understands the importance of small businesses in the community.
“It’s exciting to see the economic development that has occurred in the City of Saginaw over the past few years. We want to see our local businesses succeed. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who has a goal to start their own business and to learn more about the assistance offered through the SEDC and the City of Saginaw.” –Tim Morales, City Manager.
