City of Saginaw MI -
Saginaw Fire - Fire Marshal Promotion
The Saginaw Fire Department is proud to announce the promotion of Deputy Fire Marshal Ralph Martin to the position of Fire Marshal effective June 27, 2013. Ralph has been serving as the Acting Fire Marshal since September of 2012, when then Fire Marshal Greg Barton retired. Ralph was established as the number one candidate through a competitive testing process.
Over the past nine months Ralph while serving as the Acting Fire Marshal has increased the effectiveness of the position and increased collaboration with the Michigan State Police in the investigation of suspicious fires in Saginaw and has contributed to the two convictions for arson that recently occurred. He continues to aggressively investigate all fires and is committed to better educate the citizens of Saginaw in fire prevention by urging the installation of smoke detectors throughout the City.
City Manager Darnell Earley stated, “Fire Marshal Martin has exemplified the kind of character, commitment, and dedication to serving Saginaw and its citizens. I am confident that he is prepared to accept this new level of responsibility, and his work will add great value to the Saginaw Fire Department.”
