Saginaw Police - Internship Program
Saginaw Police Department has been hosting an internship program for quite some time now. Right now, SPD has a total of 8 interns. Since 2011 Sgt. Michael East oversees our intern program and right now he is charged with 5 interns that go-between patrol and our detective bureau. These particular interns are exposed to almost everything our officers are exposed to, and one intern has already experienced a recent homicide and an autopsy.
Our Support Services Administrator Cathy Starling oversees 3 of our interns upstairs in our administrative division. These interns actually assist our department by compiling stats and disseminating information to us as it relates to Saginaw Crime. Their time and effort is invaluable especially now as our man power is limited. These interns stay in touch with our detective bureau daily, and even come in when they aren’t scheduled to help our City.
Forbes listed Saginaw as the number one most dangerous city for women to live in the United States. I think it is important to note that 6 of our 8 interns are women and are looking to pursue a career in criminal justice. It’s also important to note that most of our interns select our department for their internship.
Please contact our intern supervisors Sgt. Michael East @ 989-759-1297 and SSA Cathy Starling @ 989-759-1298.
