City of Saginaw MI -
Hamilton St. Construction Project
SAGINAW CITY HALL OPEN HOUSE REGARDING CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ON
S. HAMILTON STREET
Residents and property/business owners are invited to attend an Open House at City Hall Council Chambers, 1315 S. Washington Avenue (M- 13) on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. -- 6:00 p.m. regarding the two-phase reconstruction project planned for S. Hamilton Street from Court Street to Lyon Street.
Representatives from the City will be present at the Open House to discuss the project in greater detail, including benefits of the finished work and possible effects for those within the area. Representatives will also be looking to garner input and feedback from attendees regarding the second phase of the project, specifically concerning tree placement and/or planters in the right-of-way.
Phase One of the project will take place during the 2013 season, beginning July 8 with an expected completion date of August 2. This phase will include design, planning, and installation of new street lighting for S. Hamilton Street from Court Street to Van Buren Street. No street closures are planned for this phase of the project. Reconstruction of this area includes the replacement of decorative street lights with energy-efficient LED lights and complementary work that was previously completed in the Old Town neighborhood.
Phase Two of reconstruction will take place during the 2014 season and will involve S. Hamilton Street from Court Street to Lyon Street. Revitalization of this area will include full pavement reconstruction, water main replacement along S. Hamilton Street and side streets, and replacement of trees, ADA ramps, and all sidewalks. A second Open House will be held prior to the 2014 construction season to further discuss these plans.
Beth London, City Engineer, stated, “Tuesday’s Open House will be an opportunity for the public to view the S. Hamilton Street construction plans and interact with the key people involved in making this long-planned project a reality. The Open House will also open the lines of communication between all parties involved and help residents and business owners become familiar with the project.”
