City of Saginaw MI -
Voters Urged to Plan Ahead For Election Day
The City of Saginaw has been working with Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services (STARS) to make sure that voters will have transportation to get to the polls on Election Day, November 8, 2016. City Clerk Janet Santos and STARS Site Manager Glenn Steffens have been collaborating to make sure all voters have a way to and from the polls on Election Day. STARS has announced that they will be providing FREE rides. Everyone will ride for free everywhere on November 8. STARS has extended their hours for Election Day also to serve those who will be voting in the evening, ensuring they have transportation home.
Those who are handicapped, elderly or disabled and wish to use the STARS LIFT or dial-a-ride services for voting are encouraged to plan ahead and call (989) 907-4028 in advance to schedule their trip to the polls.
"Working with STARS on arranging transportation to the polls in November for voting has been great. STARS will provide free, safe and convenient transportation for voters which will impact the local elections in such a critical way," Janet Santos, City Clerk.
City Clerk Santos commented, "A high voter turnout is expected for the November 8th Presidential Election. Voter patience is appreciated as the lines may be long. Voters may verify their precinct, polling location, and view a sample ballot online at Michigan.gov/vote or view it at City Hall Room 102."
As we approach Election Day, the City Clerk's Office located in City Hall at 1315 S. Washington Avenue, will be open on Saturday, November 5 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for absentee ballot requests. STARS buses will available from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. STARS LIFT Services are available from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, rides to be scheduled in advance. STARS will charge regular service fares on Saturday.
