CITY OF SAGINAW KICKS OFF MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
Many popular summer activities in the City of Saginaw will get under way during Memorial Day weekend. Activities will be as varied as watching the kangaroos at the Children’s Zoo, getting wet at the Splash Park, or enjoying the annual Memorial Day Parade. Whatever you enjoy, the City of Saginaw has something for you.
Saginaw’s Splash Park Opening
Saginaw’s Splash Park, located in the Frank N. Andersen Celebration Park, 1830 Fordney Street, is ready to kick off the 2017 Summer Season. The Splash Park will open on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Splash Park will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the summer season. There are bathrooms and changing areas on site for guests. The Splash Park also has a pool wheelchair available for use to offer greater accessibility for children with disabilities. As always, admission is free.
Residents who visit Celebration Park can enjoy a fun recreational experience in a safe and accessible environment for people of all ages and abilities. The 2017 summer season will feature favorite amenities such as exciting boulder climbing structures of various sizes within the existing playscape area. The park also includes sidewalks and paths for those who love to walk, with many added benches in scenic locations along the way. A pavilion area is available for picnics or those special summer celebrations.
FREE Admission at the Children’s Zoo for Military Families
The Saginaw Children’s Zoo is celebrating the many brave members of our armed forces. To show their support and appreciation, the Zoo is offering free admission to all military families on Monday, May 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free with proper ID for active duty, veterans, DOD civilians, reserve/guard members and eligible family members.

Memorial Day Parade presented by Positive Results Downtown Saginaw
It wouldn’t be Memorial Day without the annual parade in downtown Saginaw. The 2017 Memorial Day parade hosted by Positive Results Downtown Saginaw will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 29. The parade will start on Federal Street and proceed along South Washington to the Saginaw County Veterans Memorial Plaza at Hoyt Park. Sergeant Leeodeas Faulk will serve as the 2017 Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshal. There will also be a ceremony after the parade to honor those men and women who sacrificed their lives while serving in our armed forces.
These are just a few of the many exciting events taking place throughout the city this weekend.
