The Office of Management and Budget provides the oversight and management of the City’s budget with a focus on accuracy, communication, and transparency. The City Charter specifies the budget as the responsibility of the City Manager. It is the tool by which the city administration translates its strategy into action and is the foundation for all strategic and management decisions. OMB also publishes the City Manager’s proposed budget which is submitted to the City Council on the last Monday in April, in accordance with the City Charter. In August of each year, the OMB creates the approved budget document and submits it to the Government Finance Officers Association for consideration of its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. This office has received this award each year since 2008.

The City Manager has committed to conduct an electronic public forum on the City Budget to promote civic engagement and information exchange on the City's proposed fiscal year 2013/2014 budget. The Budget Forum on our website is designed for the convenience of the participants. City staff will be available to respond to questions and comments May 15 - 31, 2013.
The purpose of this Single-Subject forum is to offer the public the opportunity to submit comments to City Management staff regarding the Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Proposed Budget. Comments shall be made in a general nature. Personally abusive attacks, slanderous or profane remarks about any person and/or subject shall not be permitted. Out-bound links of any kind are not permitted. By participating in this forum you are acknowledging and accepting these rules. Comments will be reviewed by City staff for compliance prior to publishing to the forum. Comments that violate these rules may be omitted from the forum.

LOVE YOUR PARK
Macy's in the Fashion Square Mall is taking donations of $1 or more from now through March 31st. Donations go towards improving Hoyt Park. Macy's will match the donations up to a Storewide total of $250,000. They will continue to accept donations until the end of the campaign even after the match amount has been met. LIGHT UP THE CITY
The 'Light Up the City' initiative is a community outreach action plan working toward crime prevention through community participation. The initiative provides leadership from law enforcement and unites partners with community organizations; local residents, politicians, healthcare organizations, educators, housing organizations and other stake holders.
