Approximately 7200 street lights are maintained throughout the City. Street lights include cobra head, decorative and bollard style lights. Approximately 1000 street lights are relamped every year as part of routine maintenance, and approximately 850 lighting complaints are responded to annually. In an effort to identify opportunities to reduce cost of services, the city continually evaluates new technology for energy savings and has installed light emitting diode (LED) street lighting and had evaluated induction lighting.
