Halloween Fires Continue to Decline

November 1 - Through the combined efforts of the Neighborhood Associations, Parishioners on Patrol, Arson Watch, Operation Reach, Saginaw Police Department, Michigan State Police, Saginaw Fire Department Prevention Bureau, SCENIC, Saginaw County 911 and many area businesses which helped sponsor activities; the Saginaw Fire Department crews responded to only one arson fire and one arson attempt this Halloween weekend from Friday, October 28th through Monday, October 31st. Last year during this same period, crews responded to three (3) fires where arson was a factor.

The Community Public Safety – Fire Department/Police Department and SCENIC personnel would like to applaud the efforts and actions of everyone involved. Historically, Devil’s Night and Halloween have proven to be a popular time for arsonists to commit such crimes. It is our goal as a community to continually see a downward trend in all arson-related incidents during Halloween as well as year-round. Thank you for making 2011 another successful year as we continue to see positive results from collaborative efforts.
