City of Saginaw MI -
Crime Stoppers

What is Crime Stoppers?

We are a community based program which encourages public participation through anonymity; and which effectively combines the efforts public, media, and law enforcement to solve crime and make our communities crime free environments.

Crime Stoppers offers anonymity and cash rewards to people who furnish information leading to a felony arrest, or the capture of a person with felony warrants.

How Does It Work?

1. When a call is received by the Crime Stoppers tip line 1-800-422 JAIL (5245), the information is logged on a non recorded line. Crime Stoppers does not use caller I.D. Crime Stoppers does not want to know who you are. We just want your information!! Callers give the operators their information and the caller is given a secret code number. Callers are then given the coordinators telephone number and instructed to call the coordinator three to five days after reporting the crime. This time period allows the coordinator to give the information to the proper law enforcement agency and for them to investigate the alleged crime or located the felon fugitive.

2. If the information the tipster supplies results in an arrest, or the apprehension of a person with a felony warrants; the tipster is then eligible for a cash reward. The tipster only needs to give the secret number to the bank or credit union the coordinator selects. Most of the time the transaction is done at a drive up window. The tipster will be given an envelope with cash. The tipster WILL NOT be asked to sign anything. No names, no addresses, just take the cash and leave.

Media Involvement?

In order to publicize the CRIME STOPPERS program and maintain a high profile in the community, a specific unsolved felony crime is selected each week and is described by local television, radio and printed media to their audiences or readers.

The descriptions by the various media help keep the public interest in CRIME STOPPERS at a high level and help locate an occasional "casual" witness to the crime who did not realize he or she was actually witnessing a crime.

Who Administers the Program?

The Crime Stoppers Board of Directors is comprised of concerned citizens from the Saginaw area who oversee the program.

Crime Stoppers is a Non-Profit organization funded totally through hard work from our board members and donations received from you. Contributions are appreciated and tax deductable.

PLEASE NOTE the telephone number 752-STOP has been disconnected.
Please use 1-800-422-JAIL (5245) as the only number.

Call 989-600-2384 for information on how to get involved in the fight against Crime, non tip questions, donations, and general information.
