The water treatment and pumping operation is responsible for management, treatment and delivery of potable water to the metropolitan Saginaw area. Water is vital to both human well being and economic growth. Everyday the water plant delivers an average of 21.5 million gallons of treated water to citizens of the Saginaw Valley. Raw water is pumped to the treatment plant through the 65-mile-long Saginaw-Midland Water System pipeline, which originates at White Stone Point north of AuGres.
The City of Saginaw owns 53% of the water supply system and receives approximately 50% of the average daily supply. The remaining source water is sold and distributed to wholesale customers throughout the region.
Water Quality Reports
Each year, the Saginaw Water Treatment Plant prepares a Drinking Water Quality Report for its consumers. This report contains information about the quality of Saginaw's drinking water, health and safety issues, and whether or not plant staff achieved their goal of producing a safe and reliable supply of drinking water. Copies of the most recent reports are available below. These reports verify that drinking water from the Saginaw Water Treatment Plant met or surpassed all federal and state standards.
