Youth Theater Workshop
This workshop will be open to children ages 7-12 and will introduce students to the excitement and creativity of theater. Over the four weeks, students will play improvisational games, work on scenes and be introduced to the basics of theatrical performance.
The series will conclude with a final performance showcasing the theatrical skills the students polished during their sessions. The skills, self-expression and self-confidence learned in this class will be carried with the students for a lifetime.
Saginaw Valley Literary Festival: Celebrating Books, Authors, Families and Reading
Workshops and lectures will be held every half hour discussing topics of featured books, concepts and publishing, motivational strategies for reading, poetic thought process, how authors chose what to write about, in which style or genre, their aims and influences, and how they use their lives and influences in writing their books.
Have a taste of tempting and delicious pie along with a sampling of “womanly wisdom,” and take a bite out of past and present favorites that have delighted many mid-Michigan families for years.
Young and young at heart is what is in store for your family as you explore youth and family oriented resources from the Public Libraries of Saginaw.

Annual Art & Garden Festival
The Andersen Enrichment Center is pleased to present the 4th Annual Art & Garden Festival. Saginaw County’s biggest garden event will take place at the Andersen Enrichment Center and the adjoining Lucille Andersen Memorial Garden located at 120 Ezra Rust, in Saginaw on Wednesday June 11, 2008 from 10:00 am – 3:00 p.m. rain or shine.
The Art & Garden Festival is a kick off event for Saginaw Celebrates Summer, an eight week collaboration, celebrating arts, nature and the humanities with events sponsored in part by Abele Greenhouse and Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation,
A Dow Corning Joint Venture.
Demonstrations and presentations will cover topics including hosta and shade gardening, flower arranging, and fun hands-on container gardening and urban gardening family activities.
Sweets and treats including donuts, cookies, and cider slurpies will be offered by area vendors. Lunch will be available with sandwiches and fresh strawberry shortcake.
Art & Garden Festival Vendors will sell original art, miniature rose bushes, day lilies, hostas and other unique plants. Also available will be original garden artwork, decorative pavers, birdhouses, lawn ornaments, statuary, cookbooks, herb books and lawn ornaments.
A silent auction will be held featuring plants, garden tools and other great home and garden merchandise donated by local businesses.

"Jazz in the Garden" Concert Series
The Andersen Enrichment Center will host a summer concert series, “Jazz in the Garden ” to be held in the Lucille E. Andersen Memorial Garden on four consecutive Wednesday evenings beginning on July 9th. The lineup of entertainment includes Brush Street featuring Julie Mulady starting things off on July 9th. On July 16th the New Reformation Jazz Band will perform. New to the garden this year is GT Jam on July 23rd, and July 30th concludes the series with the Saucecats. All concerts begin at 7:00pm.
The Lucille E. Andersen Memorial Garden is located behind the Andersen Enrichment Center, 120 Ezra Rust in Celebration Square, Saginaw. Bring your own chair. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held at Pit & Balcony Theatre, 805 North Hamilton Street.
