REGULAR MEETING OF CITY OF SAGINAW COUNCIL HELD
MONDAY, APRIL 30, 2007, 6:30 P.M. COUNCIL CHAMBER, CITY HALL

  • Presented proclamation to Richard Alger, Jr., President, Saginaw County Bar Association, designating 03/03/07 as Law Day.
  • Granted personal appearances to Earl Jesse and Leola Wilson.
  • Approved Petition 07-08 from Melvin A. Barkley permitting a banner in the 500 blk of Court St. to promote the 39th Annual Saginaw African Cultural Festival.
  • Heard reports from the City/County/School Liaison Committee, Keep Saginaw Beautiful Committee, Sesquicentennial Committee, Planning Commission, Riverfront Development Commission and Downtown Development Association.
  • Presented FY2007-2008 Budget to Council.
  • Heard update from Police Chief Clift and Acting Fire Chief Wise on rash of arsons.
  • Heard report from Director of Development Odail Thorns on the City and Governor’s blight elimination plans.
  • Approved Memorandum of Understanding with Navy Operational Support Center for Police security.
  • Issued purchase orders to TBF Graphics for FY2008 and FY2009 for citywide letterhead, envelopes, and business cards.
  • Approved payment to Carrier and Gable for emergency traffic signal equipment purchase.
  • Issued purchase orders to Spicer Group, Wade Trim, Rowe, Inc. and William A. Kibbe & Associates for general engineering services for FY2008 & FY2009 and authorized City Engineer to approve and issue purchase orders of varying amounts during this time period.
  • Received FY2007-2008 budget schedule and was introduced to Employee Services Director Dale Berglund.
  • Heard reports from Duane Walker, Executive Director of the Saginaw Housing Commission and Public Services Director Tom Darnell on the M-13 Streetscape and Relocation Project.
  • Adopted Resolution authorizing sale of alcoholic beverages at Children’s Zoo at Celebration Square for a 6/21/07 fundraising event.
