Biography
Wilmer Jones-Ham was sworn in November 12, 2001 as Saginaw's first female Mayor and has been an elected member of the Saginaw City Council serving her third term since February 1994.
Mrs. Ham has been a devoted member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for forty-five years and is the Minister of Music. She graduated from the Saginaw Public School System and from Delta College with an Associates Degree in Arts, Saginaw Valley State University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Supervision and Administration.
Mayor Ham currently serves on the boards of the Boys & Girls Club, SIGMA, St. John Trinity, MBS International Airport, MERS Pension Board, Police & Fire Pension Board, Downtown Development Authority, and is the 2004 Honorary Chair of Habitat for Humanity. She is a past board member of RCO and New Perspectives. She is the founder of the Saginaw Soul Children, the Mayor's Ball and Scholarship Foundation, the Saginaw Interdenominational Ministry, Saginaw International Mahogany Models, Women and Men in Praise and the 100 Voice Boys Choir. Her other affiliations include the NAACP since 1957 and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. since 1988.
Wilmer Jones-Ham is the daughter of Mrs. Evalena Jones and the late Wilson Jones, and the wife of the late Howard Leon Ham. She is the mother of three - DeRonnie, DeToya, and Darvin Ham and the grandmother of six.
