City Charter Commission
MEETING CANCELLATION:
Notice is hereby given that the meeting of the Charter Commission scheduled for Tuesday, October 9, 2007, has been cancelled.
On October 31, 2003 a five percent (5%) initiatory petition was filed with the City Clerk pursuant to MCL117.18 and 117.25. The petition states:
We, the undersigned qualified and registered electors, residents of the City of Saginaw, State of Michigan, petition that the question of having a general charter revision for the Charter of the City of Saginaw, Saginaw County, State of Michigan, effective January 6, 1936 as amended, be submitted to the electors thereof for adoption or rejection at the next general election or municipal election, and further that the members of the Charter Commission be selected according to law at the same election at which the proposition to revise is submitted.
At the General Election on November 2, 2004, this Commision was formed.
ATTENTION CITY RESIDENTS:
Attached are the Drafts of the proposed City Charter for public review. The Charter Commission encourages City residents to participate and be a part of the final process by attending their next meeting, and offering comment. Public speakers must sign up to speak in the City Clerk's Office (759-1480) by 1:00 p.m. the day of the meeting. Any member of the public who wishes to propose specific modifications of any provision of the proposal must do so in writing (legislative style), signed by the person making the proposed modifications and submit it to the Charter Commission by December 15, 2006.
