CITY MERS PENSION BOARD
The City MERS Pension Board, established by Ordinance D-1919, May 20, 2002, as amended, is a recommending body to Council to oversee this pension. The Board shall review and recommend changes to the pension ordinance for Council approval and review the City's annual actuarial valuation of the Municipal Employees Retirement System (MERS) Pension System. Consists of seven (7) members: the Mayor by virtue of his/her office, the City Manager by virtue of his/her office, a Department Head appointed by the City Manager, an Hourly and Salaried Service Employees International Union (SEIU) member elected by the respective SEIU Hourly and Salaried employees, an American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (ASFCME) member elected by the AFSCME employees, and a MERS retiree member selected by majority vote of the other board members. Terms are 3 years, expiring June 30th.
