The City of Saginaw Water Treatment Plant mission is to provide a reliable source of high-quality, safe drinking water and efficient cost effective services consistent with sound environmental and safety practices. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality drinking water possible and look forward to serving the Saginaw area for many years to come.

The Water Treatment Plant provides water to the residents of 22 water systems in a three county service area.  The water plant has been operating since September 29, 1929 and is one of the largest drinking water providers in the state, with a maximum capacity of 52 million gallons a day.  Our average daily pumpage is around 21 million gallons per day, with our highest pumpage coming during the summer months.

For years Saginaw drew its water supply from the Saginaw River.  Since 1948, Lake Huron has been the raw water source, with the intake located near Au Gres.  Sixty-five miles of pipeline transmit the water to the water plant.

The Water Treatment Plant may be contacted at (989) 759-1640.
